Agar Cottage, Trelights, Port Issac, Cornwall, PL29 3TH

Agar Cottage is situated in the sheltered hamlet of Trelights, which is situated one mile inland from the pretty cove of Port Quin and the fishing village of Port Isaac.

Port Isaac, with its delightful narrow streets is famous as the setting for the television series Doc Martin and it is where the Fishermens Friends perform on a Friday in the summer. Polzeath with its magnificent sandy beach is three and a half miles to the west and Rock and the Camel Estuary for sailing and water skiing is just four miles away. Padstow now made famous by Rick Stein and his Seafood Restaurant is a 10 minute ferry crossing from Rock and well worth a visit. The Eden Project is 45 minutes away and is one of the country's most poplular tourist attractions. St. Ives for The Tate and other galleries and The Minack Theatre are all within an hours drive.

The cottage is over 400 years old and is built in a traditional style with three foot thick cob walls and a slate roof and floors. It was for many years the village forge. It has been fully modernised to a high standard.

From the cottage it is easy to find a wide variety of beaches and scenery and to particate in many different sports or activities, including sailing, surfing, walking, windsurfing, kayaking and fishing. There are three excellent golf courses including a course at St. Kew, an eighteen hole course at The Point and the famous St. Enodoc Golf Course voted one of the best in the country. A handicapcerificate is required for the main Church Course unless playing with a member.

Shops are within easy reach in Polzeath, Rock and Port Isaac and there are larger supermarkets with online facilities in Wadebridge and Bodmin. Good food is avaiable in the pubs and restaurants in Port Isaac, Pendoggett, St.Kew, Polzeath and the surrounding villages. Famous chef Nathan Outlaw has two restaurants in Port Isaac, Rick Stein's wonderful Seafood Restaurant is in Padstow and Paul Ainsworth's menu at the Mariners pub in Rock is a must for foodies.
